Firewood Salvage

The public is encouraged to salvage fire wood from our harvest areas once logging is done and residue surveys are completed. We deliberately deck non-sawlogs along roads for easy firewood salvage.

The following areas are currently available for salvage :

Noomst area – all the blocks in the Noomst area are open for firewood cutting. Take the Talchacko Forest Road across the main Bella Coola River bridge, then turn right and follow Noomst main for 4-7 km. Logging was completed in 2021.

East Salloompt: All the recently logged blocks (2021/22) are open for firewood salvage. On the Salloompt FSR, take the first right at the ‘Y’ at 1 km, at the top of the hill go left (not the Lost Lake FSR). At ~ 3 km there is a short spur right which leads to a second growth block that may have some firewood left for salvage. The main firewood salvage area is located at the end of the East Salloompt forest road so continue on to 4 km and then head up the hill and go to the very top, ~ 8 km. The view from up there is spectacular.
