A wide range of customers will be targeted for sales. As a matter of principle, log sales for local milling will be favoured at fair market value. Subsequent to meeting local demand, logs will be sold to customers outside the valley at the best price achievable. These ‘outside’ customers may be in the interior, the lower mainland, Vancouver Island, the US or in Asia and they may range from large integrated forest companies to small specialty manufacturers. For sales outside the valley, a log brokerage firm will be used to find customers paying the highest price.
The BCCF has initiated discussions with A&A Trading, a log marketing company with local ties and domestic and world wide marketing connections. Initial discussions have been very positive and it is anticipated that a formal log marketing and financing agreement will be completed in the near future.
